Joli lives in the rolling hills of Floyd, VA and devotes her free time and weekends to painting, both in the studio and out of doors on location. Her favorite subjects include the mountains and rural landscapes of Southwestern Virginia, often painting “en plein air,” as well as the rugged coastline of Massachusetts, a place she visits often. While painting on location, her passion is to capture the big, rolling shapes of the local mountains, and clear, colorful skies quickly, most times within a couple of hours.Joli is a member of The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge, Giles Arts Council, and is a noted stop on the Round the Mountain Artisan Trail in Southwest VA. (www.roundthemountain.org) She has participated in various Virginia regional art festivals, such as Roanoke’s Sidewalk Art Show, Salem’s Art in the Alley, Wine Down the Music Trail Festival in Floyd, and Art on the Lawn in Giles County, VA, a show which she helped found in 2006. Joli is represented by the Bell Gallery in Floyd, VA, corner of Rt. 8 & Rt. 221.
After the installation of all the lights in the studio, we decided to test them out after dark. The daylight fluorescents are great, and there will be many nights of painting ahead!
