Progress!

Much progress is being made at the house! We have a finished chimney, a completed porch, and showers and baths. The floor has been poured in the basement, and the heating and cooling is complete. Take a look!

Outside changes

The deck is partially complete, and the front porch deck is getting prepared for the concrete to be poured. Turning to the chimney, the mortar has been readied to accept the new stonework. Some of our doors have also been installed, as well as almost all the windows! 14 on the second floor alone. Until next time!! Stay tuned!

Interior changes

Part of the heating and cooling system has now been installed, and more interior changes are taking place. The fireplace has been put in and additional wiring and fixtures have been installed as well.

A Stone Foundation

The stone foundation is going up, complete with a stone chimney. We are excited about the rustic look and how it will contrast with the barn wood-look siding and the metal roof. Take a look!

A Cookout and a Broken Ankle

Our first cookout with friends at the house went well. We enjoyed a beautiful Saturday evening with burgers, chicken, and a campfire. And then, snap!, someone steps off the porch and breaks their ankle. Yes, yours truly. :( After several painful days, and getting used to crutches, things are turning around.

The roof is going on!

Our new metal roof in Charcoal Grey is going onto the house now! Wow, they are really moving along. David and I have had to select many materials over the last couple of weeks. That in conjunction with me travelling all over with my job. It's been a bit crazy, but very much fun! We've picked out the faucets and other bathroom decor, finalized the kitchen cabinets and appliance choices, as well as our exterior rock for the foundation and chimney.

We are excited to have our first cookout at our new location this coming weekend! Be on the lookout for photos from this fun event. We are expecting wonderful weather and good friends.

Dinner and Sleepover!

David and I got the crazy, spontaneous idea to camp out at the site last weekend. We threw everything in the VW Bus and headed to Floyd with the sun setting behind us. We were able to set up our camp table and grill out some steaks and veggies. Later in the evening we were visited briefly by our family, wondering what we were up to. Several cars drove by slowly as well, no doubt wondering who the heck we were! At the end of the evening, we were pleasantly suprised to find our amazing view was still there, with the rim of the dark hills contrasting against the glow of cities far away. After a cozy night in the bus, we awoke to a suprisingly beautiful day. Take a look, until next time....
